District Health Boards are responsible for providing or buying Government funded health care services for the population of a specific geographical area. District Health Boards have existed since 1 January 2001. The amalgamation of Otago and Southland into the Southern District Health Board in 2010 reduced the number of District Health Boards from 21 to 20 (excluding 'Area outside District Health Board')

District Health Boards are defined at meshblock level.

Changes to District Health Boards:

Otago and Southland amalgamated to form the Southern District Health Board in 2010.

Chatham Islands Territory meshblocks transferred from Hawke's Bay District Health Board to Canterbury District Health Board in 2015.

Further information on District Health Boards can be found on the Ministry of Health website: www.health.govt.nz/new-zealand-health-system/key-h...

A geospatial dataset showing provisional data for incidence rates of work-related injury claims, and claims involving entitlement payments, for 2016, by geographic region.

Work-related claims measure claims accepted by Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) for work-related injuries.

This dataset contains incidence rates of work-related injury claims for the 2016 calendar year, calculated by Stats NZ. Incidence rates are the number of work-related claims per 1,000 full-time equivalent employees (FTEs). FTE figures are as estimated by Stats NZ’s Household Labour Force Survey. Entitlement payments include death benefits, weekly compensation, lump sum, and rehabilitation payments.

All figures presented in this dataset are provisional because claims for injuries that occurred in 2016 can still be updated and filed. Final work-related claim figures for 2016 will be released in 2018.

Geographic regions are groupings of territorial authorities (TAs). In most cases, regional boundaries follow TA boundaries. Where the TAs straddle more than one geographic region, they are assigned to the region containing the greatest proportion of their population.

See www.stats.govt.nz/browse_for_stats/health/injuries... for the report this data accompanies.

This dataset is the definitive set of annually released community board/local board boundaries at 1 January 2018 as defined by the territorial authorities and/or Local Government Commission, and maintained by Stats NZ. Community boards are set up under the Local Government Act 2002 and Local Electoral Act 2001.

Local boards also fall within the community board classification. Local boards were introduced as part of the new local government arrangements for Auckland in 2010.

Digital boundary data became freely available on 1 July 2007. This generalised version has been simplified for rapid drawing and is designed for thematic or web mapping purposes.
